These accommodations vary in size and accommodate from 2 to 10 guests. Children must be at least 6 years old to stay in a dormitory. Bedding and towels are provided for each guest occupying a dorm bed. Each dorm has 5 bunk beds, a shower, and a shared restroom. There are 2 male dorms and 2 female dorms. These accommodations are available to hikers only. Cabins and dormitories are heated in winter and cooled during the summer months. Overnight accommodations at Phantom Ranch consist of dormitory spaces and cabins. Families with children 5 years of age or younger are limited to cabin use only. Our cabins and dorms do not have phones or televisions.Ĭhildren are welcome at Phantom Ranch however, we discourage young children from hiking to Phantom Ranch due to extremes in temperatures in the summer and winter, and the remoteness of the location. Additional individuals cannot stay under your reservation, and guests are prohibited from doubling-up in the bunks or sleeping on the floors. Hence, we are pausing lottery entries / bookings for Phantom Ranch overnight mule rides beginning Januand hiker cabins for stays arriving onward. The National Park Service has informed Xanterra Travel Collection that they are moving forward with the planning and eventual execution of major infrastructure rehabilitation projects, and that the projects will impact some of our concessions operations. Should a cabin guest arrive outside of window hours for check-in, they will need to ring the bell at the side window. Only guests staying in cabins may purchase alcohol. Alcohol may only be consumed at your cabin area, and not at the picnic tables outside the Canteen. Alcohol sales are limited to two beverages per person and available only during reserved dinner service. Beverages and snacks will be available from the Canteen’s side window from 8 a.m. Only to-go breakfasts, sack lunches, and to-go dinners will be available. The Phantom Ranch Canteen will not be accessible to travelers in the near future. This unfortunately results in the need to close the Phantom Ranch hiker dormitories and reduce the campsites in the campground by 50% at least through September 2022. As part of this project the occupancy at Phantom Ranch has to be reduced, in both guest overnight lodging and the campground in order to drastically lower water and wastewater going into the facility until it is repaired. The National Park Service (NPS) will be making critical repairs in the coming months to the waste water treatment facility at the bottom of Grand Canyon. Phantom Ranch is now open with limited services.
